County planners have approved proposals to build 10 homes in Little Tarrington.
Developers sought permission from Herefordshire Council to develop the 2.9 acre plot of land west of Garbrook off the A438 Hereford to Ledbury Road.
The applicant’s agent Russell Bryce said the plans, which include two self-builds and two affordable homes, were sensitive with the village and had the support of many residents.
“75% of respondents to a consultation on the plans were in support of the proposals,” he said while speaking at today’s (April 10) planning committee meeting,
A total of 21 residents wrote in favour of the scheme but Tarrington parish council objected along with eight other residents.
Parish councillors say the main housing growth in the area should be in the core of the village and also believe the proposals would be detrimental to the landscape and lead to future ribbon development along the A438.
Councillor Dave Greenow proposed approving the scheme which was seconded by coun Steve Williams
The plans were approved with 12 votes in favour and one abstention.
