New homes to replace garden

A plan has been put forward to build five large houses on a once-popular garden near a Herefordshire town.

The bid by Bob Dhanda of Aspire Enterprises, Walsall, would cover 0.9 hectares of the former garden at The Bannut, Bringsty, on the A44 east of Bromyard.

The garden was previously open to the public between April and September, and had its own tea room.

According to its Facebook page it appears to have closed five years ago, “due to ongoing health issues”. Its nine TripAdvisor reviews up to that point all rated it “excellent” or “very good”.

Four of the detached houses would have four bedrooms, and one would have three. They would be heated by air-source heat pumps “using the best available technology”, the application says.

Arranged in a courtyard formation, the five would each would have two parking places and electric car charging points.

Foul water would be dealt with by a “state-of-the-art” treatment plant, with waste pumped to a drainage mound, while a holding pond would retain excess surface water.

The proposal aims to retain as many of the former garden’s trees as possible, “without compromising the light amenity to the dwellings and gardens”, the application says.

The scheme would require a new access onto the A44.
