Philip Dunne MP has welcomed a decision by Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP, to call in a Bridgnorth planning application.
The application to build five retail units at the former car park on Old Smithfield has been called in by the Secretary of State following representations by Mr Dunne. This means the Minister will determine the outcome of the planning decision personally. Mr Javid is seeking further information about whether proposals conform to the SAMDev local plan, and the National Planning Policy Framework.
Mr Dunne said: “There is significant local concern about this development in Bridgnorth, so it is important this application is reviewed to ensure it meets both local and national planning requirements.
The Government is very selective on which applications are called in for review, so I am very pleased the Secretary of State has responded to my representations and agreed to review this case personally.”
