More electric vehicle charging points are going to be installed in council-run car parks in Herefordshire.
Herefordshire Council will be working with Gamma Energy Ltd and Wenea to significantly increase the provision of electric vehicle charge points.
Over the next two years, the number of charge point bays will increase to over 100 with more provision planned as demand increases. There will be a switch to more rapid charging and support for residents who have to park on the street.
This increase in charge point provision will support residents, visitors and businesses in making the switch to electric vehicles, will improve air quality and help the county work towards net zero.
Cllr John Harrington, Cabinet member for infrastructure and transport, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Wenea and Gamma to expand the number of electric vehicle charge points in the county. The work will strengthen Herefordshire’s EV network and allow further charging opportunities for electric vehicle owners.
“We are committed to reaching carbon net zero by 2030, and this is a huge step in that direction.”
