Local people in the New Year Honours 2022 list

North Herefordshire MP Bill Wiggin received a knighthood, while an athlete, priest and rugby club chairman were also among the people from across Herefordshire, Monmouthshire and Shropshire honoured in the New Year Honours 2022 list.

Knighthood

North Herefordshire MP Bill Wiggin has been given a knighthood for his political and public service.

CBE

Former MEP Anthea McIntyre has been awarded a CBE.

The 67-year-old from Ross-on-Wye has been awarded following her political and public service.

MBE

Hereford athlete Daniel Pembroke has been given an MBE for this services to Athletics.

BEM

Susan Roberts has been given the British Empire Medial for her role as volunteer and trustee of the Ross-on-Wye Community Development Trust.

Her award follows work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sally Robertson from Hereford is awarded the BEM for her services to the community in the Burghill area.
 

Monmouthshire

Knighthood

Dr Jennifer Harries OBE from Monmouth has been given a knighthood for services to health at the UK Health Security Agency.

BEM

Gerald Beaumont from Usk has been awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to people with disabilities in Wales.

Abergavenny councillor Maureen Powell has been awarded the BEM for her political service in Monmouthshire.

Catherine Spiller is awarded the BEM for her services to the Reserves and Cadets Forces and to the community in Monmouth.
 

Shropshire

OBE

Matthew Lanham from Whitchurch has been given an OBE for services to People Affected by Neuro Muscular Conditions in the UK. Mr Lanham is currently Chief Executive of the Neuro Muscular Centre.
 

MBE

Edwina Langley from Telford has been awarded an MBE for her services to education.

Susan Manns from Sue Manns Associate in Church Stretton has been awarded for her services to planning.

Chair and Trustee of the Shropshire branch of the Council for the Protection of Rural England has been given an MBE for his services to the community in Shropshire.

Christine Simmons, Housekeeper and Health and Safety Co-ordinator at Condver College is awarded services to Adults with Learning Disabilities during Covid-19.

Oliver Townend from Ellesmere is awarded for his services to Equestrianism.

Professor Anthony Barrington WARD Lately Professor, Rehabilitation Medicine, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is given an MBE for services to Rehabilitation Medicine and People with Disabilities.

BEM

David Allman is awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the NHS and to the community in Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire, particularly during Covid-19.

Reverend Wayne Davies has been given the BEM for his services to the community in Ludlow, particularly during Covid-19.

Rabinder Singh Dhami, Prevention Manager, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded for services to Fire and Rescue.

Nesta Hill has been given the BEM for charitable services to the community in Bishops Castle.

Reverend Keith Osmond Smith has been awarded for services to the community in Telford, Shropshire, particularly during Covid-19.
