The number of new coronavirus cases recorded in Worcester has more than trebled in the last week and is now the highest in the county.
Public Health England said 189 new cases were recorded in Worcester in the week up to June 30 – a rise of 243 per cent compared to the previous week.
The rise in the number of cases recorded in Worcester means it is now the highest among the county’s six districts.
Almost all of the new cases were aged 59 and under with four of the week’s 189 positive cases coming from people aged 60 and above.
A total of 804 cases were recorded in Worcestershire in the same week – an increase of 123 per cent.
A total of 166 cases were recorded in Bromsgrove in the week up to June 30 – a rise of 56 per cent – and 123 cases were recorded in Wychavon which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich.
The number of cases in Wychavon increased by 89 per cent compared to the previous week.
Figures show the number of cases increased by 120 per cent in Malvern Hills to 117 for the week.
Redditch saw 96 cases recorded in the week – a rise of 190 per cent.
Cases in Wyre Forest increased by 135 per cent in the week to a total of 113.
