Taylor Wimpey Bristol has provided a charity in Brockworth and a fundraiser in Innsworth with a £500 donation, as part of its community outreach programme which aims to provide a positive impact to the areas in which it builds.
The housebuilder, which currently has homes for sale at its Brockworth development, Perrybrook, as well as Whittle Gardens in Innsworth, offered the donation to Art Shape and the Cheer Up Fund.
Art Shape’s vision is that all people can engage in the arts as equals. The charity runs a countrywide programme with a number of courses and projects, including a specific focus on social inclusion and health.
The donation from Taylor Wimpey will help fund the charity’s new project – Create and Connect – offering creative sessions for people living with dementia.
These sessions provide opportunities for people living with dementia and their carers to develop and learn new creative skills, meet with others on a regular basis, as well as creating a chance for respite.
Lucy Garrett, a spokesperson for Art Shape, said: ““We are delighted to receive this donation from Taylor Wimpey Bristol, as it will help to fund the continued programme of creative sessions for those living with dementia in Gloucestershire.
“This is even more vital at the moment given the additional isolation many of the programme’s participants are experiencing due to the pandemic – so we’d like to say a big thank you to the developer for its support.”
The Cheer Up Fund, a fundraiser created during the pandemic by Sally Thomas, aims to raise money to purchase creative activities for care home residents in the local area, including painting, puzzle books, jigsaws and crosswords.
Sally conceived the idea when England was placed in its third lockdown, believing that the pandemic may have caused these elderly residents to feel lonely and isolated, as they were unable to see family or loved ones.
Sally commented: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of Taylor Wimpey Bristol and have now delivered all of the books and creative activities funded by the homebuilder to a number of care homes in the area.
“All of the care homes we have supported have been incredibly grateful to the developer and everyone who kindly donated to the Cheer Up Fund.”
Clare Brimble, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol, added: “We are delighted to have been able to provide both Art Shape and the Cheer Up Fund with a £500 donation each.
“As a leading homebuilder, we make it our prerogative to invest in the communities surrounding our developments to ensure we make a positive impact, as well as working with causes in these areas to help in any way we can.
“Both charities are providing invaluable support to the people who rely on their services and we were thrilled to be able to fund new projects and activities during this difficult time.”
