A cyclist has died in hospital after he was involved in a road traffic collision in Forthampton near Tewkesbury last Wednesday.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and yesterday arrested a man in his 60s from the Tewkesbury area on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The collision between the cyclist and a black Volkswagen Golf is believed to have happened between 5.30pm and 5.45pm on Wednesday 21 July.
Emergency services attended the scene on an unclassified road close to Bishop's Walk, between the village of Forthampton and the main A438 between Tewkesbury and Malvern. The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to Southmead Hospital via air ambulance, where he died on Tuesday (27 July).
Investigating officers want to hear from anyone who saw the collision or anything prior to the collision.
In particular officers are investigating whether a group of motorcyclists were in the area around the time, one described as riding a sports bike with bright green fairing on the front. They may have valuable information about the collision, the cyclist or the car involved and officers are asking them to come forward.
Any witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken to officers are asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 473 of 21 July.
Additionally anyone with dashcam footage in the area at the time is asked to contact police online here: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/soh/seen-or-heard/
