The Cheltenham Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to patrol Montpellier Gardens as the Bank Holiday weekend approaches.

The park is a good place to meet so that you can socially distance however over recent weeks issues have started to arise around large groups gathering, anti-social behaviour, drug/alcohol use and littering.

The team is working with council officers to ensure that everyone using Cheltenham’s parks and green spaces is acting responsibly and following the government's Coronavirus guidelines on social distancing and meeting others.

Acting Inspector Steve Benbow said: "We want to ensure that local residents are able to safely enjoy Montpellier Gardens and are keen to stop any ASB from taking place.

"Officers and PCSOs will be patrolling across the Bank Holiday weekend utilising the CCTV van and our colleagues from the Mounted Unit.

"We are still working with partner agencies and I would like to ask those who meet others to do so responsibly taking social distancing guidelines and their behaviour into account."

Partnership working with Cheltenham Borough Council has seen the introduction of additional litter bins and more regular litter picking patrols however if a bin is overflowing please report it to the council online at www.cheltenham.gov.uk/report-it, by email at enquiries@cheltenham.gov.uk or telephone on 01242 262626.
