A new cocktail bar – ‘Shakers’ – will open at The Market Theatre in Ledbury on 23rd July, staffed by four long-suffering waitresses who are waiting to serve you Pina Coladas, Tequila Sunrises and Passionfruit Martinis. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. Shakers will be open for just three nights, Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, closing on Saturday 25th July at approx. 10.00pm. Meet Adele, Carol, Mel and Nicky and find out about their own cares and dreams, as well as their customers – the supermarket girls celebrating a 21st birthday, the yuppies and the ‘well fit’ lads out on the pull, the theatre-goers who thought the play was too long and preferred the interval. A wickedly funny glimpse of this world seen through the eyes of the long-suffering waitresses - a fascinating view of the reality that lurks behind the plastic palms and the Pina Coladas. Set in the 1980s, John Godber and Jane Thornton’s play has been updated twice. LADS (Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society) is performing the 1987 version, ‘Shakers Re-stirred’. It’s worth mentioning that, if the heatwave continues, the theatre is air-conditioned! Tickets are available online at www.themarkettheatre.com or by phoning 07967 517125
