A man has been sentenced after he was found guilty of rape, assault and arson.
Parminder Sund, 39, previously from Shifnal, was found guilty last Friday after a five day trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
He has been sentenced to a total of eight years after been given five years for rape; three years for arson, to run consecutively, and 20 weeks for assault, to run concurrently.
Shropshire’s Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) DI Mat Crisp has welcomed the sentence.
He said: “Officers work diligently to ensure those who cause harm are put before the courts and I’m pleased this has resulted in a significant sentence that will see a dangerous individual in prison for some time.”
