Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hereford, Droitwich and Malvern have held a training exercise at British Telecom Madley near Hereford.

On arrival, crews were faced with a rescue from height on a 45-metre high industrial satellite dish.

“This was a rare opportunity to train on such a structure alongside our category 2 responder colleagues from BT and their own rope rescue teams,” said Station Commander Craig Newman.

“It gave us a chance to show how our rope rescue teams are using new and updated methods to rescue casualties in industrial settings, expanding on their skill-set in carrying out rescues in the natural environment.”
