Map lovers are invited to secure a little piece of Shropshire history for their collections as the Friends of Shropshire Archives offer a limited number of printed Ordnance Survey maps for sale.
Shropshire Archives, run by Shropshire Council, has rationalised its printed maps collection, and is disposing of some of the duplicate copies of the 6″ scale Ordnance Survey maps of Shropshire, mostly dated 1900-1903.
There are also a number of map sheets for counties on the border with Shropshire. The Friends of Shropshire Archives are selling these maps for £5 per sheet.
The Friends say the maps are used: some are torn, some have annotations, and a few are photocopies, but many are in good condition.
There will also be spare copies of the Shropshire Magazine, and Transactions of the Archaeological and Historical Society, available to purchase.
To see what is being offered for sale, or to reserve items for collection from Shropshire Archives in Shrewsbury on Saturday 5 March 2022 between 10am and 3pm, please see https://friendsofshropshirearchives.org/events/
This is one of series of mini events at Shropshire Archives on the first Saturday in each month. The archives will be available for research between 10am and 4pm; please order documents in advance at https://www.shropshirearchives.org.uk/
