Midwives and parents celebrated the first 2023 babies to be born at Hereford County Hospital on New Year’s Day.
The first baby, a boy weighing 7lb 4oz, called Finley, was born to mum Charlie and dad Aled, shortly before 5am on January 1.
The team of hospital midwives and new parents welcomed two girls and three boys on this special day and each baby received a bauble and a hat from the maternity team, to celebrate their arrival.
Amie Symes, Associate Director of Midwifery at WVT, said: “It’s wonderful for our midwives to be able to celebrate with the proud parents the arrival of the first babies born at Hereford County Hospital this New Year 2023.
“Every baby is a blessing and babies born at this time of the year have very special birthdays. It was lovely to present the family with the bauble and hat for their baby.
“Our dedicated and experienced teams are here to help and support expectant mothers, parents and their new babies both in hospital and at home. Our community midwifery and health visiting teams continue to provide specialist support when parents and their babies are discharged from hospital, which includes help and advice on infant feeding and caring for your baby.
“From all of the maternity team at WVT, we wish the families of all babies born both on 1 January and throughout the year, a very Happy New Year.”
