Police continuing to patrol Oakley following anti-social behaviour concerns

The Cheltenham Neighbourhood Policing Team is continuing to patrol the Oakley area following recent problems with anti-social behaviour.

Over the past month, residents have raised concerns about an increase in ASB incidents which included stones being thrown at houses, fires being started at a derelict farm and cherry knocking.

Local officers have been patrolling the estate on a regular basis and are also working alongside colleagues from the Mounted Unit to show that this behaviour will not be tolerated.

The team have also been utilising the force's CCTV van and taking part in a leaflet drop which aimed to encourage residents to contact police or Crimestoppers with information they may have.

Sergeant Julia Martin-Jones said: “I would like to reassure local residents that we are treating their concerns very seriously and continuing to prioritise patrols in the area.

“A multi-agency cocooning day will be taking place on Wednesday 2 June where we will be in the area alongside a number of partner agencies and we hope that this will help us to speak to local residents and gather information to help identify those involved in the incidents that are being reported to us.

“The team would like to say a massive thank you to the local community for continuing to support us and submitting any information they have as it is helpful no matter how big or small the piece of information may seem.”
