A destination marketing campaign for Herefordshire has been launched to boost the county's tourism recovery.

The £440,000 campaign is being funded by the Marches Local Enterprise Fund.

A dedicated Steering Group has been appointed and chaired by Jo Hilditch of White Heron Properties with members including representatives from Herefordshire Council, the Herefordshire Business Board as well as individuals from a cross section of tourism businesses.

Phase one of activity  sees the appointment of Orphans, the Leominster based creative agency, working in tandem with Rural Media based in Hereford, to develop the marketing plan and promotional campaigns for the destination.

In addition, Travel Tonic, a specialist travel PR consultancy based near Ross on Wye has been appointed to handle PR and social media elements of the campaign.

The early focus of the campaign will be revamping the branding and updating Visit Herefordshire’s website to give a fresh take on how the county is promoted and its stories are told.

Funding has to be spent on activity before 31st March 2020.

Local businesses and organisations are being encouraged to join a new Facebook group will give details about opportunities.

Speaking to Sunshine Radio, Jo Hilditch, chair of the Steering Group says a campaign aimed at domestic leisure visitors will be launched in the autumn:
