Developers have submitted plans to build 210 homes on a field in Ledbury.

Ian and Kathleen Griffiths want permission from Herefordshire Council to develop the 45 acre site off Little Marcle Road.

Architects working on the scheme say they hope to deliver a mix of one to five-bedroom houses with a proportion of affordable homes.

They say the design will reflect the character of the historic market town by using local materials, street trees and narrow and wide building plan forms.

But many residents fear the town’s services will not cope with the extra demands.

Objector Stuart Blows said: “This is once again a speculative development where everyone will have to cross a main road to gain access to the town.

“The infrastructure of the town itself will not cope with another proposed development of more than 200 houses.

“The access point has heavy industrial traffic and is not suitable for this mount of use.

“The proposed development would be a further strain on local services, schools, doctors and further numbers using the hospital in Hereford.”

Residents have until January 13 to comment on the proposals.
